Get a life. At some point HUMANS have to come first.
Go hug a tree with these bleeding heart buddies you've found. I'm gonna run over a squirrel tomorrow just for the hell of it because of your dumbass question. Think about THAT. Poor little thing.

I guess you have never had to leave due to a Hurricane or other natural disaster..
The majority of the people who left pets behind had no choice, if you could afford a hotel and pets were welcomed then those are the people who took their pets, Shelters do not accept pets so they were left behind not by choice but of necessity, and then you had the people who refused to leave home because they could not take there pets and those were the ones that had to be rescued and some lost their lives!!
So you see pets were not abandoned.. People had little to no choice!!

Do you no longer imagine that maximum folk ought to look at self protection and the well-being of their human dependents and friends with pets possibly a touch way down the agenda? If no longer then you somewhat are being unrealistic, unreasonable, and speaking about belongings you recognize no longer something about.

I think you need to be aware that a lot of the people were told they COULDN'T take their animals with them due to space/time constraints and there was no way to safely transport them. Basically the government (that wonderful organization that is so on the ball) told them they had to abandon their pets and leave them to fend for themselves.
If anyone should go to jail for neglecting the animals, it should be FEMA!

Why should they be charged with anything? In an emergency, where would they take them? Shelters don't allow pets and neither do most hotels? What would you do? Stay in your car for god knows how long for Fido? I think not. Be realistic. They are animals, not people. People should come first.
