If you are having fits of "unbridled rage", something is triggering them. Can you keep a record of what happened to set you off, or what happened just before the "attack". What's been going on in your life since these started? You should get checked out by a doctor though in case something else is causing them.
Something may be stimulating old buried feelings that you need to get out. If that's the case find someone you can talk to and express your feelings. For instance I had a friend who was diagnosed with schizophrenia, but it turned out she wasn't schizo. She got married and was in a sexual relationship and that was causing flashbacks to the sexual abuse she'd been suffering as a child and had occluded (Hidden, forgotten) We don't always know what ails us until we investigate.
My friend's doctor and the psych. he sent her to, got it wrong, which could have been tragic for her, if she'd been bunged into some psychiatric institution. Fortunately she got another opinion and the doctor who correctly diagnosed her problem worked with her to get through it. She's happily married now.
The moral of this story is, keep away from psychiatrists as much as you can. Choose a counselor or psychologist who you can work with! (And I'm speaking as a person who was going to be a psychiatrist once, until I discovered how destructive psychiatry is.) It seems that anything which is big on making money, becomes corrupted.

Unfortunately....yes. At least I used to. I realized that it was related to long term depression (15 years, since I was a teen) that culminated in my Mother's early death. I needed to get my depression under control after she died and found that once I did that my anger seemed to subside. I am not ashamed to say that I have a prescription for my depression. I fought it for so long, and I was losing, I had to try something else. If you have outbursts that are affecting your life, you might consider talking to your doctor (not necessarily a shrink) for their suggestion.
