"Every time we do something you tell me America will do this and will do that . . . I want to tell you something very clear: Don't worry about American pressure on Israel. We, the Jewish people, control America, and the Americans know it." -- Ariel Sharon to Shimon Peres, October 3rd, 2001, as reported on Kol Yisrael

Is this a ligitimate quote? And if so was he drunk at the time ? I know I've made some arrogant I control the world statements after a dozen or so - but no one follows me around with a microphone (thank god)

Without attempting to verify this, why don't you go to Kol Yisreal on line and try to find out, I'll attempt to parse it out (and keeping in mind he might have been translating this from Hebrew to English in his mind as he was talking):
First, the response begins as a reply to something else having already been said and his initial reply would be to indicate Isreal is its own nation and will defend itself whether or not we support them, and,
Secondly, (after the colon) he's indicating that whatever is being discussed (we don't know this from the quote) that Isreal is going to do whatever they need to do in order to guarantee its survival, and,
Tershiarily (did I spell that correctly?) The Americans are going to have to live with it (i.e., we are their only ally in the mideast and they want to keep us as an ally).
The quote might be accurate; however, the context is lost as we don't know what is being discussed.

Ariel Sharon ought to correctly be ethnically categorised merely as a Palestinian. He develop into born in Palestine in Jewish relations, and previously 1948 merely Jews who lived in Palestine were said as Palestinians. Even his British passport stated -Palestinian. Arabs who stay in palestine were no longer said as Palestinians.

I've heard that before but with the internet most things are not true so take it with a grain of salt.

Of course I think what he says is TRUE.
