Hi Everyone!

So I need help, please. Cable company comes to fix the cable, they go into a wall and replace a broken wire. I should add that they pulled my computer desk out of and back into the wall (it has a million wires, but they were very careful)

I go out, I come back later to listen to music through my computer speakers and winamp/windows media player/etc tell me there is something wrong with the drivers. I checked and everything is correctly plugged in, speakers and audio on.

I need to know what to do in very simple terms!

help?

Thanks in advance!

drivers are software and have nothing to do with the wires in the wall..

Go to your device manager and uninstall your sound card. Then reboot the computer this re-installs the drivers for the sound card. Windows 2000 is a TERRIBLE O.S. it is VERY unstable, consider upgrading it to Windows XP Home or Pro with sp2. The XP Home version can be obtained from Wal-Mart for a good price.

Try going into the Device Manager first.
Start-Control Panel-right click System-click Hardware tab-click Device Manager-look for Sound Video and Game controllers- double click on it. If you see a yellow !(exclamation) next to your sound card, there's your trouble Double click sound card, see if it says"this device working properly" or not. Try to click Driver, and if you have to, click Update Driver. Let it connect to internet to search.
If it doesn't, go to manufacturer's website to obtain drivers.

Drivers are software, not hardware. In other words they're programs that tell your operating system how to functionalize your hardware. Which version of Windows are you using?

Reinstall the drivers for your sound card and see if that helps.
