I was a Republican, but will likely vote Democrat in the 2008 election unless a moderate such as McCain runs for the Republicans. Bush is too far right for me and promotes his own agenda far too much. This country is based on liberties and Bush is removing them.
I am all for national security and am willing to sacrifice for it. I have no problem letting them listen in on my phone calls or standing in airport security an extra 15 minutes if it makes me safer. I DO have a problem with restricting such non-threatening behaviors as gay marriage, abortion, and stem-cell research. These acts are INDIVIDUAL in nature and do not effect every citizen as national security does. There is no logical reason that we should restrict gay marriage, specifically (abortion and stem-cell research are likely more controversial since they involve right to life issues). It does not harm anyone else. It is an individual's personal choice. Plus, we have FAR, FAR more important issues to be focusing on ie: Israel/Lebanon, Iraq, N. Korea, detoriating schools, healthcare, immigration, etc, etc, etc. We should not be wasting our time with mid-term election stunts such as a gay marriage amendment that everyone knew wouldn't pass. It's an embarrassment to this country that we focus on menial issues and decline to acknowledge the important ones for fear the incumbents might lose their elections.

I'm always open to a good Democrat candidate, I used to be a Democrat. But they will have to have a really good candidate, and Hillary isn't it.
I'm unhappy with the GOP because of their overspending and I'm unhappy with the president because of the illegal immigration thing he has ignored. We have some 10 percent of the Mexican population living here now and I think it is outrageous. Still, it would take more than Gore or Kerry to have gotten me to vote against him.
I told both my senators that I'd rather vote for a democrat (they are republicans) than have to learn spanish to get by with my neighbors in my own country. I'm not worried about the government listening to my phone calls, I'm worried that when I bought into a scam no one was interested. I'm worried that we are still behind the bottleneck of no new refineries but oil companies piling up profits without making more gas--oil companies need to try, government needs to let them. I'm worried that we buy so much oil abroad when we have supplies here but are derailed by stupid claims about birds that haven't been seen in decades or mice that might be inconvenienced. What good is having a majority in both houses of Congress and a man in the White House if they still can't get anything done, stuff they say they stand for.
But the Democrats have to offer something besides complaints, which is all I hear from them..

I'm a devout independent, I truly vote for who I think is best and I can tell you I WILL NOT vote for any Republican above the local level in the upcoming election, and I will not vote for the next Republican candidate regardless of who it is. That is how fed up I am.
And if you REALLY think Bush is one of the best ever then you have not been paying attention. He cannot TOUCH Reagan or NIXON. Hell, I even like old Jerry Ford better than this moron.

I just want to apologise on behalf of general left with people for the person who posted "I told you so". That you are considering changing your vote proves that although you've always voted republican you consider your options properly and are voting for the right reasons, rather than people who just always choose the party their family does. I think most Democrats should be saying to you "that's really good"...

Under Bush the national debt increased 1.5 billion dollars a day, largely due to being attacked on 9/11. Obama's solution has been to increase the debt to 4 billion dollars a day. That's just stupid. Do the math.

I'm a Democrat who has never turned toward the Bush administration. I am pretty upset about seniors and healthcare. Anyone who cannot afford medicine should be able to get it for free. People are being forced to decide whether to go without their food or their medicine! It's terrible!

no. for the most part the democratic platform is to be against anything the republicans are for. not much of a platform.
on rare occaisions i will vote for a democratic candidate based on who's running and what their record or beliefs are but never for an office higher than congress. never for president.

Regardless of Rebuplican or Democrate, anyone could have told you that Bush was a Dangrous Idiot that Failed in everything, including parenting. Have you ever noticed that those two are never near him and not spoken of any more in the media; well I am looking for their porn on the internet too, fellas, we all are. Come on the guy was a joke, even his father thought so and did very little moral suport for his son.
