I also think its a beautiful image. Its really too bad that people give such a negative reaction to something as natural as breast feeding. I guess thats also why many new mothers arent doing it. They may feel stigma from breasting in public, even if covered. Since breast feeding is a 24 hr job, babies require feeding to be avaible where ever they are. And so many new mommies arent breast feeding, which is why there are now campaigns promoting for babies to be breast fed. I think the public should bare in mind that they too were probably breast fed. Stop objectifying breast as a sexual organ, as their purpose it to nourish their babies.

Yeah, that's pretty sad if people are getting upset over that. Sadly enough, I bet few of them would have a problem with a magazine that had a gun on the cover. As americans, we're exposed more to weapons and violence then to the human body.
I don't see anything wrong with the cover, I agree it's a beautiful moment of bonding between a mother and a child. All those who see otherwise are just perverting the image and it's the issues of those people who need to be fixed.
I wish that more Americans would stand up and declare that the human body is not an issue to get upset about. It's a natural thing and it should be honored and celebrated. There are more important things in this world to protect our children from than a boob or two.

Being that it is a perfectly natural thing, I think more and more people believe that the woman's breast should not be put on display for everyone to see like that. It might sound prudish, but thinking about how the women's Lib groups are, they say that we abuse the women's body for money. Seems to be the case with this magazine cover.
Personally, I do not think it should be a cover picture. It would require more of a mature audience. What do I tell my 16 year old when he sees it? He only would think of it sexually, not for the natural beauty of it.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with that picture. This country is about the only one that has such a hang up about breast feeding. It's better for both the baby and the mother. Plus, I've seen overweight guys not wearing shirts with bigger breasts than some women, and nobody seems to be as appalled as I am.

Breastfeeding in natural and mother's should have the right to feed their children. If it is uncomfortable for you then move yourself! No one is making you stay there!
To someone who made a comment before: Men have nipples because before they become men they are women first but their body begins to become a males after they are somewhat a female. There is some book out there called "Why Men Have Nipples" I think. Check it out, it's kind of interesting! It has info on all different/weird questions.

Actually, you don't even see the mother in this picture. All you see is the beautiful baby being nurtured. To answer your question "what is wrong with America?" I'd have to say Americans.

Human nature is human nature. I hope with 'exposure' our citizenry will eventually get used to it, as it has with many other issues, but even then do you honestly think men won't have certain type thoughts at the sight? That won't really change no matter how 'tolerant' or 'acceptable' it becomes. Sigh.
It is a really cute photo though, and its a great question.

the problem with america is americans are uninformed voters and the whole voting process is messed up and disgraceful in my opinion. Its not issues that are debated anymore but something someone did 25 years before and how that makes them a bad person, and the person saying that is probably just as corrupt..... America needs new politicians, and news sources that can be trusted to bring unbiased information, and we need to pay attention to that news.

That is as natural as going to the bathroom,,, people need to get their heads out of the sandbox and grow up a little. The pic didn't even show nips so in that way I think it was a cute and wonderful cover picture.

I think it's a great pic!!! Really lovely...same thing happened here in Australia when a local celeb breast fed her son on teev...now I was watching and I couldn't see anything, her shirt was over the "offending" breast and all I could see was her little bundles head...people are so conservative that something as natural as feeding your baby is offensive...the mind boggles...
