I would get a second opinion. Go to a sports orthopedist. Some doctors are more conservative (erring on the side of caution.) My general practitioner suggested long ago that I quit running and take up swimming because I had several injuries over 2 years. I reminded her that I am addicted to running, that I have low bone density in my spine, so I need to do weight bearing exercise, and that I hate swimming. That was the end of the quitting running discussion. The last doctor that treated one of my injuries was an orthopedist who was also a runner. He knew exactly what to do for my injury and had me running without pain within days. (I haven't had any more injuries since.)
So, don't give up what you love, just find the right doctor who will understand you and be able to treat you accordingly. (maybe you can put a question on here for recommendations of a doctor in your area who understands dancers!)

Oh man, I'm really sorry for one. Honestly, if dancing means that much to you which I can relate to, I don't think a broken leg will stop you. Doctors are great but people that have been told they'd never walk again have walked so I think you should take a very long time to let it heal up, and be very careful when you begin dancing again. Giving up something you're so passionate about can hurt more than a broken leg so just take a break and heal completely and then get back to it as carefully as possible. Your choice really, but that's what I would do. =]

The only thing I can think of to tell you is that maybe you could wait a couple of years to dance. I know! I know! If that's your dream & your life, that would suck. But if you let your leg heal really well & maybe take in a lot of calcium, take calcium supplements or something, you will be stronger & there may be way less risk of you hurting yourself again & then you can dance & dance & dance for years & years & years, instead of chancing it & not being able to dance or even walk on that leg again at all. I hope you get to dance again, if that's what you love!

Two thngs. First, get another opinion. Doctors are people too and they make mistakes. Two, think of your future. Not just 1 yeah from now, but 10 years. Wat would it be like never to play with your kids in the floor? Thinking about what's best for you also means thinking about what is best for those around you. I went to doctor after doctor about a knee problem I had. One doctor said i should never pitch again. Two others said the guy was full of crap. Guess what? I pitched again and nothing happened. Make sure your source is accurate, then go from there.

Wait for it to heal properly, allow a few months with Dr supervision, then resume dancing gradually. its better to wait than be crippled for life
