Ok my wife just started a job about 2 months ago as a teller at a credit union and she likes her job even though the pay is 11.15 an hour in Tucson thats a lot starting out. Today she got a call from our real estate agent who asked her if she would be interested in being an assistant to a motgage processor at a nother bank with a starting salary of 45k plus commissions.

She isnt sure if she wants to take it because she just started at the other job but it is twice the pay and even though she would be doing assistant work im sure she would get the oppurtunity to move up. What do you think she should do?

The lady who is offering the job is looking for someone with no experience in the fireld as well. She would not be working with the real estate agent but for Chase financial. And benefits arent too important because the military gives her most of what she needs as a spouse.

Take the new job, of course! Sounds like she'll have more opportunity at the new place.

a job as an assistant starting at 45k???? that sounds too good to be true... unless your wife is THE best admin assistant there is in Tucson with TONs of experience...
of course i would go for the money, but it doesn't make sense...
before she makes a move, do some research and maybe talk to some of the other employees with this RE agent. (do not reveal the amount offered) find out if this agency is doing good business. a lot of people are dropping out of RE because the market is over saturated with agents.
and get the offer in writting, to give you peace of mind.

if your real estate agent finds her to be a suitable candidate for a job that she knows so well then she should take it. you need to realize that 45k is a beginning salary for professionals. she doesn't have to be a pro to be qualified for a job. all she needs is someone who is interested in her. i got low grades in college and now work for a salary that is above minimum starting pay for the position. the interviewer took one look at me and decided that i was someone who he wanted to talk to every day when he went to work. my friends who are all smarter than me can't even get an interview. i told my new boss that i haven't applied for a job at this company because 50 people are lined up for every position that they offer. anyone is capable of doing my job. i was just lucky. your wife is on the right track to a successful career if she just goes with the flow. if i was her, i would gladly accept the offer and make something out of it. you are foolish to sit in a position to where they have already decided that it is not worth promoting anyone from.

If she thinks she would like that job --GO FOR IT!! Who cares she just started this job, the bank would not care if they needed to lay her off or something-its just business, they don't care. And what opportunity would she have for advancement? Some but not probably as much as she would with the other job. Just make sure the pay they are quoting is legit.
