I would suggest either Lizard Island or Silky Oaks Lodge in the Rain forest.
Beach vs Rain Forest !!
Please see pictures below.
We didn't honeymoon there but we really enjoyed those two places.
Have a great honeymoon.

Depends on your idea of luxury. Sun and Sea or Mountains and scenery. If it's Sun and sea, go to Daydream Island. It is really beautiful! Lots of relaxing, heaps of luxury accomodation etc. If it's inland you want to go, try somewhere like Barossa Valley SA or even Peppers Resort in the Blue Mountains!
Or better still, NZ! Only 3hrs from Sydney. You'll have the time of your life if you visit Queenstown in winter! Absolutely unreal and for a great Luxury accomodation: Heritage Queenstown 4 & 1/2 *. Only 220 AUD per night and that includes a huge rooom with access to massage, pools, saunas, mountain and waterfall views, or lake views you decide! It has a free shuttle service that takes you into town where you can enjoy a romantic meal on top of the gondala tower.
Or else go to Gold coast and vist the Versace. 1500 AUD / night! THats luxury max!
Enjoy a Happy Married Life!

Relax on sun-drenched beaches, dine at award-winning restaurants and a whole lot more is what you should get on your visit to Sydney. Find more with hotelbye . One of the world's good icons and a positively must see in Sydney is the Sydney Opera House, a place is really a UNESCO World Heritage Website and the celebrity attraction on the glittering harbour. That elegant creating, designed like shells or billowing sails, perches on a hand of area surrounded by water. Sydney is just a distinctive spot to pay your holiday therefore, don't eliminate the ability to visit a great city.

why not go to one of those exclusive resorts on say Lizard, Hamilton or Great Keppal Islands???
I have sailed around there and it was just beautiful...the resorts looked really nice and I am sure that if you check them out online you will find something that you like...
if you want something more lush and in the rainforest why not try the Daintree Eco Lodge and Spa in Far North Queensland...it is like something that you will have never seen before...your hotel room is about 50m of the ground, high among the treetops. i loved it....a little pricey but well worth it for your honeymoon...
If that is too much then TreeTops Port Douglas is also beautiful...I have not seen the honeymoon suite, but the rooms are really nice....

If you're from west coast USA ..... save time .....since you're on a honeymoon ........ and just fly to Tahiti. :)
4 hours from Sydney would get you to the great barrier reef and Cairns and almost to Perth ( 5 hours )...... 2-3 hours max anywhere else in Oz.

Unfortunately I've never been to these two places but I've put a link to each below. Both are Australian islands.
If you could stretch to NZ then I found another interesting place. Hope this helps.
