I like to go to the July 4th parade in a neighboring city... It's great seeing the marching bands and the floats and hearing the music (as well as ambushing those without instruments or fancy uniforms with water guns). I do have to pity those wearing heavy wool uniforms though-- it gets pretty hot out on the 4th.

We still have parades around here. Detroit has an annual Thanksgiving parade (and a parade everytime the Red Wings win, although we're hoping to having one for the Tigers this year). Ann Arbor has a 4th of July parade that is absolutely crazy and fun. And our own little neighborhood organizes a Memorial Day parade where kids can decorate their bikes, high school kids can march with their band instruments, etc. and we end up in the park and honor all our Michigan soldiers with a moment of silence and the playing of a bugle. Everybody loves a parade!

They still have lots of parades here where I live, including the Bud Billekin parade that's coming up next month. I don't go to them but I watch some of them on TV.

I've taken my kids to Christmas parades, we watched the parade at Disney World, and I've watched the parade in New Orleans during Mardi Gras.

Last year I went to the 4th of July parade. But I didn't go this year because I forgot and I had to work that day so I wasn't much interested anyway.

Every Christmas season.
There's nothing like the sitting in the cold drinking hot chocolate watching the parade go by.

I wasn't in the band, but I used to love going and watching my high school band perform, no matter where it was. They were soooo good, and always won awards for their unusual song choices and choreography. They deserved and had the respect of most everyone.
Since then, I pretty much watch the parades on TV.

We have parades all the time here but I live in the Pacific Northwest in a small-ish town. They're a good place for free candy!

Around here, there are lots of them.
One on Veteran's Day. Memorial Day. Many on the Fourth of July. And the Gay Pride parade in late June (now THAT one is entertaining!)
