Ella or Ellie as nicknames for Elizabeth. Trying to steer away from the popular nicknames like liz, beth, lizzie, etc.

I know someone who is due in Sept. and she's going to name the baby Ella and that will be her full name, not a nickname for anything. I also had a friend named Ellie when I was in middle/high school and that was also her full name, not a nickname. I do like both names, especially Ellie, for a full name or nickname...

Nicknamed, no. I did know an Ella Jane who is an older woman. Her name and middle name were always said together.
I think I would prefer to be an Ellen to an Ella or an Ellie.

Actually, My cousin is named Ella. Actually her full first name is Ella-Mae. I have a friend who is also named Ella. It's a pretty common girl's name in the Philippines. I don't know anyone named Ellie, though. I think that they are pretty good names/nicknames.

Personally I dont think Ella is a nickname or at least not a very good one. I know someone that has a niece named Ella and people call my daughter Ella to grate my nerves because her real name is Gabriella.

My cousin's name is Michella and nicknamed Ella....my Godsister's name is Elizabeth and me used to call her Lizbeth..which switched to Liz or Lizzy....now I call her Izzy...heheh...and I had a teacher named Ms. Elisabet and her mother nicknamed her Lilis or Lislie....you can try those, and Ella, Ellie, or Elle are cute and unique for a nickname for Elizabeth...

I know a dog named Ella, and a friend named Ellen they call Ellie Joe. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Ellie, but it's very popular (both are), so you have to be comfy with your Dd having 5 other E names in her class.

I'd be worried that kids would, later in life, call her Ella Phant.
I like Ellen better than Ellie or Ella.
Just my opinion...

My name is Lindsey Lea (pronounced Lee) and my family's nickname for me has always been Llea (pronounced Ellie). I think it is cute for a little girl but tends to sound babyish as they get older so it would be best to use it as a nickname not a full name...just my opinion though! Good luck in your quest for the perfect name!
