Both were exellent but i had to choose i would pick #2

I think that the first one was better, even though both were good. My reasons are thus:
~There were tons of special effects in both, but in the second one, it seemed as if the creators were just trying to show off. I actually found my mind wandering during the kraken scene.
~The first one tied off the story nicely but still made a sequel possible with Jack's escape. The second one left loose ends EVERYWHERE!! It almost drove me insane. Of course, the next film, Pirates of the Caribbean: At the World's End, will come out May 25, 2007, but I think just because the sequel will be released soon (and that there is a guaranteed sequel) doesn't mean that the film had to leave so many loose ends. I know some had to be there for the sequel, but it just seemed like there were so many!
I did enjoy both films, and I liked the nice Davy Jones and the Flying Dutchman personification in the second one. And if the two things I mentioned above weren't so noticeable or prominent, I would have to say that they were equal in my eyes, but the first one is just a little bit better.

Omg u had to ask that didn't you?? Well personally I think the 1st is better because u can follow the plot line easier the 1st time you see it but then again mayb the 2nd because of Jack and Elizabeth kissing and the unpredictableness and the action and the way cool sword fight and not to mention the BIGGEST plot twists in the history of plot twists. Ahh who am I kidding....
THE 2ND ONES BEST!!! LOL i'm so crazy in love w/ POTC!! LOL

I would have hated 2 if Orlando and Johnny wern't in it. Kearia did a awful job, in the scene where the three guys were fighting and she was throwing a fit. And the scenes with the natives lasted forever!

One is funnier and two is longer with more story line. They are both great but I liked one better just because it did not leave me hanging so much.

Both are great; however, 2 is better. I can guarantee that the 'wheel fight scene' will be MTV Movie Awards best fight scene.
