I think Andrea Yates is the shell of the person she was when she was younger. People attack different Christian groups and accuse them of "brainwashing" people and being cults, but obviously this was someone actually seems to have been dragged through that process in a more mainstream religion. She should have never been pressured to feel like she should have more children than she was capable of caring for mentally and then forced to homeschooling them on top of it all. I think she was pressured to constantly sacrifice and be superwoman and keep up with other women within their religion. Sadly, I think she was overwhelmed and lost in the process.
It's sad that she is paying the price for trying to do what she felt was expected by all, including her husband. It doesn't seem right that he just gets to walk away and start a new independent life without suffering more than media attention.

I think Andrea Yates is ok, and I believe that her husband and her mother, or his mother should have helped her with those children One baby after another, and 2 suicide attempts should send any family member a message that this person should not be left alone with young children. Where was her support system? Yes, under the circumstances, she is a nice woman.

I pitty her. I think she is going to have to live a very horrid life now that she has committed such a heinous crime. If only her doctors or husband could tell that something was wrong and had gotten her help, this may have been prevented. She was mentally ill, for Christ sakes she had 5 little ones and no husband around during the day to help. I'm not trying to justify what she did but you have to look at the entire picture here.

I think she is a very sick lady. She may still be a nice lady, but sick none the less. I wouldn't want to live her life today and think about what I did to my own kids for the rest of my days here on earth. Pray for her!

Anyone, father or mother who can look in those innocent trusting eyes and physically harm and torture any life they have created one by one or all together has completely gave up the right to be treated as a human being all together. There is no more nice about it.

depends on how you define "nice". She is nice and sick, yes, she may be nice to animals, nice to strangers, nice to policemen, nice to her mother, but that does not mean she is a well person, fully functioning able to live in society. She has an illness, like some people have diabetes, or cataracts, she has something wrong with her brain. She can't help it. That is what is so sad about her plight.

How do you define a lady who drowned her 5 children and was in her right mind to call the police to notify them of what she had done? Obviously, nice isn't the word.

I think she's a deranged psychopath. She has no heart and no compassion and is completely f**ked in the head. She has no soul and is rotten to the core.
But other than that, yeah she's a pretty nice lady.
