Tell her doctor right now what she's doing, throw her cigarettes away, sign her up for smoking cessation classes and tell her she needs to stop being so selfish, she's endangering the life of your child.

Mother's who smoke put their babies at risk for low birth weight, premature birth, asthma, RSV, and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Even if the baby is born ok, which I doubt the child is at risk for repeated ear infections which can cause deafness and speech issues, respiratory problems and having a smoker in the home increases the chance of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome by 50% (the baby goes to sleep and never wakes up). The child could also develop asthma and other serious lung diseases. I hate to be mean and judgmental, but what your wife is doing is child abuse. Have you ever seen the commercial where there is a person in a chamber that fills with smoke and the person can't get out? That's what happens to your baby every time she lights up. I would be seriously concerned about what kind of mother she is going to be if she is willing to cause her child to be exposed to a cancer causing agent. However, approaching her that way will not help her to quit. Has her Dr. spoken to her. Help her get this information from a neutral source. I don't think it will help. She is an addict and addicts seldom see beyond their addiction. Side note: My aunt smoked like a chimney and died at 54 of brain and lung cancer.

Wow...2 days ago she was smoking 90 - 100 cigarettes a day, now she is up to 151.

Pregnant or not, nobody should be smoking 7 packs of cigarettes a day.
I think you are full of it. I'm reporting you.

I do not belive that it is possible to smoke that many cigarettes daily. I do not believe you. What you are saying barely makes sense. She should be dead and so should the baby. And you should be dead too being around all that smoke. I think you're lying to be honest.

Anyone who smoked this much would already be dead. Check this perosn's other statement - he's lying. Two days ago she was smoking around 100 per day. He's just looking for people to take the bait - don't be so willing to feed his attention starved ego.

Your wife needs to realize that it is not only her life she is endangering, but that of her unborn childs, and even yours. Tell her how this makes you feel, and ask to see a doc for aadvice on how to quit safley. When I quit I was smoking 3 packs a day, it helped taking up a new project like crafts, or crossword puzzles. Good luck. I hope your baby is healthy.
