Absolutely fake. The story of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre was based on the story of serial killer Ed Gein, who lived in Wisconsin. Ed Gein's story is also the basis of other movies, such as Psycho, Silence of the Lambs, and Deranged.

I'm thinking fake. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was not based on a true story. The original idea came from an amalgam of horrific things, like the serial killer Ed Gain for one. It was not based on a sole incident as they would have you believe in the new version.
