Goofy is a fictional character from the Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse universe. He is an anthropomorphic dog and is one of Mickey Mouse's best friends. Though his first concept name was Dippy Dawg, in cartoon shorts created during the 1930s, his name was released as both "George Geef" and "G.G. Geef", implying that "Goofy" was a nickname. Contemporary sources, including the Goof Troop television show and A Goofy Movie, now give the character's full name to be Goofy Goof. The Goof Troop pilot also refers to 'G. G. Goof' on a diploma, likely a reference to the original name. Although he is not extremely intelligent, Goofy's main flaw is, predictably, clumsiness

Goofy may have originally started out life as Dippy Dawg, but he has certainly evolved since then.
Some "experts" have refered to Goofy and others of his ilk as "Caninus Disneyus Humanus".
Or in other words, Disney's stand in for the average human being.

I've heard him referred to as a human dawg; unlike Pluto, Mickey's pet, Goofy is the same human form of cartoon as Mickey, Donald, etc, standing up, walking around, wearing clothes, etc .... so when we look at all the cartoon animals of this Disney universe, PLUTO is the one who is different than the rest. He's the only one not with human traits.

I guess people are very touchy when it comes to Walt~ I got a bunch of thumbs downs for saying that he had mommy issues once because someone asked why he kills off the moms in the Disney movies!Very strange~LOL;) I don't think the dwarfs were her type, since she wanted the prince at the end~We will never know what happened behind closed doors though;)LOL

Goofy is a dog, it's just that he doesn't walk on all fours, like Mickey's dog, Pluto.
