Balance. A person can easily be generally sober with occasions of whimsey and be balanced enough to be well-adjusted. I am a fan of sober. I am sober. I like sober. I respect it.

I also know that all sober and no play makes Jack a very dull boy.

As far as how others like it or not, there will be those that do and those that don't. If you get stuck with a person that doesn't, there will be issues to work on and resolve. If you are not stuck with such a person, move on from those that dislike your trait and find those that do.

Good Luck!

'Sober' placed as opposite to 'drunk' or 'intoxicated', 'sober' is a good thing for judgment, hand eye co-ordination and a general sense of well being. 'Sober' as opposed to 'joy' is self oppression, perhaps through oppression from other, but then there's the possibility that the joy reaction has a false reason at that moment; condition dependent.
