You answered you own question. Religion is manmade, not faith or belief in God or Christianity. Christianity is based on the teachings of Jesus Christ, thus it's name. A true believer in Christ will not bow to manmade religion but only to God or Jesus.

Suppose you attend an exhibition of paintings. Many people passes viewing paintings - some praises the work and yet others have different opinions and so on. But now you reached a painting that attracted you more than anything else there. You may have many queries on that such as the paint and brush used, the base on which the work is done etc. etc. But the question "who is the painter?" will be the most pleasing question to the painter.

God wants us that eagerness from us. Looking at the whole world you praise many things and enjoy the beauty. But the Creator is pleased when you seek him. Do that and it is what God wants from you.

Religion was a community of those God seekers in the beginning. But, now religions are highly misguiding and it has become the largest obstacle between man and God. What we can do today is - SEEK THE CREATOR BEYOND RELIGION. You will find the truth.

If you consider that ALL religion is man made then you hve no way of finding out what God (IF there IS a God) wants.
There is good news, though!
All religion is NOT man made!
Read the Hole Bible! I would suggest the New King Jame's version. Start with the Book of Matthew and read until Jude.
That will tell you EXACTLY what GOD wants of you!

If religion is man-made, then god will be an extension of human imagination. Therefore each person can come up with their own defenition of a god. We see this in the extreme interpretations of religions, where one person sees a mandate to kill everyone, and another is a pacifist, both because of the same religion. This indicates that humans simply take their own desires and say that they are god's, just to give them a reason and excuse to act. Therefore "god" wants what we want, and it is all subjective.

Religion is man-made. Since god is a religious concept that means 'good', god is also man-made. I prefer to think of a supreme being called the Creator, not god because I don't believe the Creator is necessarily good. I don't fancy being part of a powerless reality where I know that I am going to die someday and everything I suffered and experienced is meaninglesss. If I ever got to meet this Creator, I would give him/she/it a piece of my mind. Christians love to call their god merciful, loving and kind but frankly, if this is the way their god treats his/her/its children, I would hate to think what happens to those who are enemies. Go figure...

If religion is, in fact, man made then there is no god. To want something an entity must have independent existence.

Religion is man-made...although,in most religions, most of what was written was told by either a prophet and or supernatural being(allah, god,or what have you),so they say(supposedly)......

"what does god want",you ask?
Perhaps,he/she wants a vacation from all our nonsense in this world!!!!!!!!!!

26If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless. 27Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

Here's another really great one.

8 He has showed you, O man, what is good.
And what does the LORD require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.
