our "id" operates on a very basic level satisfying our need & desires...if you ego (meaning your conscience self) knows an action may have an immediate satisifaction it may give in to the id despite the later consequences (because the id is like a spoiled child it wants what it wants when it wants it) and as long as the "superego" (or outside sources) dont have alot of authority in your life your ego may just throw caution to the wind & let your id loose to do whatever despite the fact that your ego knows its not the best outcome in the long run. Ok im done my brain hurts now i need to go do something pleasurable (not that sicko!)
