I am a huge Giants fan and i want Soriano. The Giants could trade Schmidt to the White Sox the sox would trade Brandon McCarthy to the Nationals, and the nationals would trade Soriano to the Giants. I don't care where he plays this year, we just need to sign him up so then we can go after Carlos Lee and Barry Zito in the free agent market this winter.

I think the Giants should just sell as many players as is necessary to pay Barry Bonds's upcoming legal bills.

The Giants don't have the budget to sign three free agents like Soriano, Lee and Zito. Become a Yankee or Red Sox fan if you want to live in that world.

right..... here's a reason why that would never happen, the Nats are basically trading Soriano for McCarthy?!? .. good for the white sox .. they give up McCarthy and get Schmidt .. why not schmidt for soriano straight up?? why did you involve the White sox?? ..What ever.. non of these are gunna happen ..
Every team in the league is looking to sign Zito in the off season, so who knows he might go to San Fran.. I think Lee will sign wih they Yanks in the off season though .. I'm not a yankee fan, but its true they can buy out any player they want.

Well, the White Sox are openly in the market for another bat, and they are more than willing to give up pitching. As a matter of fact, they are actively seeking to move pitching at this point (as far as the rumor mills say). Thus, I couldn't see any reason why the Sox would involve themselves in a trade where they get rid of a 23 year old McCarthy for a 33 year old Schmidt, who is playing a position they are not actively seeking. Sure, Schmidt might add to the rotation to make it one of the best in baseball, but when you're seeking a bat, you're seeking a bat.

Doesn't sound too bad, but I don't think the White Sox think higher of McCarthy than they do Schmidt, plus they really don't need pitching.

Actually the White Sox could use Soriano more than the Giants could so why wouldn't they just go after him themselves?

Are you crazy? Schmidt is one of the best pitchers in the game right now. Pitching is impossible to find and keep. Soriano would be a great fit with the Giants and I think they can get him without losing any pitching.

I don't think the Nationals are dumb enough to get rid of Soriano for a guy thats in his second year of baseball and isn't well known. The reason he is on the trade block is because the Nationals could get several good players for one great player. In trades like these sending 2 players isn't going to satisfy anybody. You need like a 6 or 7 player deal to get what you need.

That would never happen.

Soriano wants to play for a team that has a good shot of winning the World Series...and that isn;t the white sox or giants.

the giants have already said they want trade schmidt but soriano would make a nice fit in the lineup especially if moses alou and barry bonds retire.

get a clue, the giants office wouldn't resign him for next year anyway, so all you would accomplish is having soriano for like 60 games, he'd hit 15 homers, and then you'd never see him again.
