I need Help i`m In 6 grade i am working on my science project early so help me?
For my science project i will be making an little elevator made of wood the wood will make a square once i hammer the screws in the elevator will have a little hole in the middle and a stick formation will go trough their the pole and the square will go in a box using very power full magnet i will put one on the top of the top of the box but inside and their will be a magic on the top of the square so it can be pulled up and their will be a mag tic at the bottom of th sqare and the bottom of the box but inside this way it will got up down up down


WILL my project work or will it not work
how much do you think it will cost
i know the school year is over but i want a first place project

and i thought of it and do you have any more ideas if it wont work tell me how to make it work

The problem is that while it might be fun, you're not really doing any science here, just making a toy. But, you can take the basic idea for your 'elevator' and run with it very easily.

Here's just a hint. You set up your 'elevator' so that the magnet on the box and the magnet on the bottom cause the box to float. OK so far? Now, put a ruler behind the box (or stick a pointer on it). Now, start adding weights (maybe coins?) to the top of the box. After each one is added, measure how far down the box goes. Now answer some questions:

Does it go down the same amount with each coin?

If I put two magnets on the bottom is it harder to push down?

Make a chart of the distance the box goes down as you add more coins. You've now built a magnetic scale that you can use to weigh other things.

Bet you can think of some other things as well.

build it and find out.. probably very cheap to build
