Do you think UN is a tiger without any bite? Do you think UN can be independent when it is so dependent on US? (Even their "land" is in US!!) What is your take to Israli's attacks on Lebanon? Do you think them justified? Do you think US "authorised" the Middle East conflict? Have you ever wonder why the resentment against US grew over the past few years? What can government of other nations, you and i do to make the world less resentful, more peaceful and happy?

Oh, also, what do you view UN? A organisation only capable of standardising traffic light colours and setting other nice-to-have-okay-to-do-without kind of standards or a organisation that is capable of protecting the welfare of THE united nations? Is it a organisation capable enough to take care of its own people and the people (supposingly) in its charge? Is it capable to stand against powers and make its own point?

I think the UN could be a useful forum for international discussions and might even be able to do some good.

The current UN leadership is completely corrupt. The oil for food program lined the pockets of UN officials like Kofi's son, and turned a blind eye to the importation of arms from France, Germany , Russia and China.

It is terrible that UN observers were killed the other day. But here again it is a result of corrupt leadership in the UN. Just what are the observers supposed to observe. They didn't disarm Hezbola, or stop them from bring missles into the UN zone. In fact it has been reported that Hezbola was using the UN positions as a shield behind which they were firing missles into Isreal. Did the observers see that?

After hostilities broke out why were the unarmed UN peace observers left in harms way to become human shield for terrorist.

Thank god, the UN has no teeth. If it did you know who'd they'd be biting.

The UN does not have its own army or air force - of course, it is a toothless & clawless tiger. It can only roar, if the Security Council allows it to roar.

UN can only act when its most powerful members allow it to act - therefore, it cannot be independent. But that doesn't mean it is useless. It situations where the major powers are in agreement - eg. the natural disaster in Aceh UN can be an effective body.

Unfortuantely, the major powers are seldom in agreement - therefore UN just provides opportunities for diplomats to jet in and out of New York and around the world, contributing to Global Warming with the jet exhaust and verbal hot air.

The U.N. is not doing any good at this point in time according to an internal investigation according to Fox news as of tonight.
This has been known for several years by the regular person..
All they are doing is creating a job for them selves and spending other countries money.
It is similar to the Olympics.. The City that sponsors them makes the money.

The UN is a leech.

The US is a St. Bernard with a cask of brandy around it's neck rescuing a skier stuck in the snow.

The U.N. is useless. No I don't think the U.S. is a bully in the Middle East Conflict at all. I think they are doing exactly what they should be doing.

The U.N. ...a tiger? My two-year-old kitty could lick the U.N. (heh).

Seriously, the U.N. was a great idea, but it's so seriously flawed, and this is so widely recognized, that as an effective organization it is useless.
