Where does the rain end?

Have you ever wondered? If it's raining in New York and not in New Jersey, exactly where does the raining end and the not raining begin? Is there a place where you can take a few steps one way and be out of the rain, and just a few steps the other way will put you right back in it... you don't have to take this last part seriously but I'd really like to know how it works.

As you may know, rain is the the result of condensed water in the atmosphere reaching enough mass to fall back to the surface. Where does rain collect before it falls? In clouds. Thus the rain follows the clouds.

Can you see where the rain starts and begins? Most certainly. In parts of the midwest USA especially there have been reports that people have actually seen the wall of rain moving towards them. I thought perhaps it was a joke until I saw it myself. A wall of rain that moves with the clouds.

Since clouds move with the wind, they are almost always moving so as for stepping in and out of the rain, that would be hard to do.

P.S. The wall of rain only usually happens when a large cloud with lots of rain is down pouring and it is usually a singular cloud in an mostly clear sky (like in the midwest)

Well just think about it. Have you ever been outside when it started raining? At that precise moment you were where the rain ends. When it stops raining you are also where the rain ends.

sometimes you can jog along and keep up with the moving clouds....if you stand still the rain will pass over...but if you know what direction the clouds are blowing you can stay in or out of the rain. it's all about the temperature up where the clouds are where the condensation is occurring. but it's fun just thinking about it;) kind of reminds me of trying to find the end of the rainbow!

well i say clamite, i don't think it possible for you to work out of rain in new york and get out off it, but climate explain well how the weather works rain begain when energy from the sun evaporate water in to the air and condanse it back to earth, so it depend on the climate of that country or town to dertermine rain fall around earth.

I am in Arizona and you can see where the rain starts and ends. I love the Monsoon season here. You can watch the rain as it comes from miles away.

this has actually happened to me one time. if you are really curious you can drive around in the rain and follow the clouds. you can see the cloud gradually thinning out as you approach the area that is not raining.
