I was wondering if I should still purchase a PC card network adapter to connect my notebook to my wireless broadband router (Linksys WRT54G) even if there is Wireless-G technology on the laptop? Would this improve signal or is it unecessary?

You are good. Don't waste your money.

If you NEED a better signal, a PC card will help tremendously, and depending on the card you can buy a 3rd party antenna to improve signal even more (if the access point is like a mile away =)

risk-free practices: A under pressure out connection delivers a extra look after connection on account that information isn't being transmitted interior the path of the air. WiFi has encryption, yet that encryption could properly be truthfully cracked for the tech savy/ desperate intruder. even however that's extremely no longer likely for this to take place, that's a possibility. Reliability: A under pressure out connection delivers a extra good connection the place WiFi is susceptable to interferance and random sign loss. velocity: maximum WiFi connections have slower community speeds than under pressure out. B is 11Mbps, G is 54Mbps on a similar time as ethernet is 100Mbps. on the spot N and upcoming WiFi delivers speedy connections, that could truthfully be trumped via a Gibabit under pressure out connection at 1000Mpbs. under pressure out is a lot extra proper for best-bandwidth desires (like streaming video and on line game play).
