my dad knows all about this, but i can give you the low down. first you have to send a letter to the county that you got the ticket in (the address is on your ticket) asking for a deposition which is a pain in the buttocks for them. you are asking for all the evidence against you to make a case ask for a copy of the back of the ticket, everything! most of the time they never send you the info so then you send another letter to the judge saying that you dont know how to proceed if they wont give you any evidence which lets you off. if you get unlucky and the cop actually does all this, then you have to pay up.

don't contest it. i have never won! i was pulled over in 1999. anyways i failed to show up in court. the county put a hold on arrest warrants until 2005. anyways i have a free website that indicates whether or not all my tickets are paid and resolved. i couldn't interprete it real well do to the poorly worded language. if i knew that i owed it, then i could have saved 20.00. anyways the process is 9 hours in jail and then i was freed. tickets absolutely suck! the best thing to do is just pay it. the more time that you contest it then the more bitter you will become. you have to take time off from work. the officer has already wasted his time. (supposedly) the judge is looking forward to the revenue account to increase. if you have a driving job then i would asked the judge if you could keep it off of your record. bring a motor vehicle record (mvr) to court and explain to the judge that you job depends on keeping it off your record. don't take the risk of going to jail. if you have any medical conditions then you are without life insurance for the time served. they will let you lie there and die. i am not kidding! it is best to stay away from the penal system. pay the bill. work overtime to get your money back.

I wish you much luck.. I am not sure what state you live in, but in my state, they wouldn't let you wait to protest a ticket after 2 years.
However if you want to continue, you do have a little luck on your side. Chances are that the officer who gave you the ticket won't even show up to court, and when that happens, the judge usually throws out the case...
If you are mega serious about it, you can always hire a lawyer, but I think that would only cause you financial woes...Just take it on yourself and see if the officer even shows up..

Verify if the speed limit is actually posted in the area you were tagged. I know that there is an area near where I am that has miles of roadway without a posted speed limit. This may be an option. (Or you could tell them that you had to pee!) LOL
Sorry.... good luck!
