When I was a cop, I used to hate giving people tickets. Because of this, I used to love to write tickets for having a headlight out. It kept the brass off my tail for not writing enough tickets, and it allowed the person who received the ticket 72 hours to get their headlight fixed, show it to someone at city hall, and have the ticket torn up.
So - yes, you CAN do it, and most states probably still allow you a grace period of time to get it fixed where they will tear up the ticket if you prove it's fixed... but it's not safe.
My advice would be to only drive it in the day time until you get it fixed.

Depending on the local laws in your area, some police will pull you over for driving with only one headlight. Same for tail lights, license lights, brakes, etc.
Either replace the broken light tonight or bring it home during the daytime tomorrow.

If we are talking about a car......It depends.....As long as everything is legal, insurance, license, etc. you should just get a warning if you get pulled over.Act like you didn't know about it.........LOL
