I'm not talking about just a "disappointing" movie, but a really, really bad movie. Mine is "East of Eden" by Anne Rice.

I can't believe what they did to Cheaper By the Dozen when they made a Steve Martin Movie of it.

pretty much any book by Stephen King and Anne Rice, there work just doesn't translate well to film. Though I did like the movie ending to Secret Window better than the book ending.

The Neverending Story was a great book but a stupid movie. Also, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wonderful series of books but a pretty lackluster movie.

I have to agree with the Harry Potter series and also most of Stephen King movies. I know the movies have time restraints but they shouldn't waste time and money if they can't make it as good as the book.

Stephen King's Dreamcatcher
Julie Garwood's For the Roses (movie: Rose Hill)
Ultraviolet (comics were soooooo much better)

Definitely all the Harry Potter movies. And don't forget It by Stephen King. I mean, what the hell? A clown's supposed to be scary? I'm afraid of clowns, but the one in the movie didn't even scare ME.

I think mine would be Queen of the Damned...I loved that book, but the movie was all teenage-like and totally not the same without Tom Cruise as Lestat. Yes, he may be crazy, but he's still the only Lestat.

"Starship Troopers" by Robert Heinlein. Great book - it first began to teach me about honor and duty when I was in middle school. It's also my personal candidate for the worst movie ever made - not excluding "The Three Stooges Meet Hercules".

The Virgin Suicides. Loooove the book, hated the movie.

"A Prayer for Owen Meany", which was made into "Simon Birch". The adaptation was nothing short of butchery. John Irving made them change the name, it was so far off the mark. And don't even get me started on Jim Carrey.
