Horizontal asymptote: take the limit of x as it approaches +/- infinity

Are you saying the sq. root of x^2? That would be x. Simplify the problems first. If that is indeed what the problem says, problem #1 would then become x/x -4 which is 1-4 = -3. That's a horizontal line. Is that really what the problem says?
