According to Houston’s KHOU-TV, local rapper Big Hawk, who was a member of DJ Screw’s original Screwed Up Click, was gunned down last night (May 1) on Houston’s south side. While on his way to a friend’s house to play dominoes, Hawk, whose real name is Jonathan Hawkins, was shot several times at 10:30 p.m. near the corner of Redfern Drive and East Orem Drive, dying at the scene. Witnesses said that his car was parked and still running outside the friend’s house when police arrived. Over 100 friends and fans reportedly gathered in the area as news of his death spread. Police have no suspects or motive for the murder. He is survived by his wife and two children. Hawk’s brother, Fat Pat, who was also a S.U.C. member, was shot and killed in early 1998.
