Ok, according to JKR, two main characters will die. In a recent interview she hinted that Harry might die. She said she had never been tempted to kill him off before the seventh book because she had always had it planned out as having 7 books. She also stated that she didn't want to recieve hate mail. Even though she didn't directly state that she was going to kill him off, she also said that she might kill him so that no one could continue her series after she is gone. I believe she might kill him, but since she didn't directly state it, we won't know for sure until the seventh book comes out. I hope this helps! I had the same question as you and have spent a lot of time looking for it on the internet. I can't remember exactly where I got it, but their are tones of pages with the interview on it. If you want to look at the interview directly, I'm sure you can find it with a little searching on the net.

He won't die, it is very difficult for an author to kill off the main character in a book like this where so many people are putting their personal input into the creation of the book. If it were a book that wasn't as popular as this there may be a possibility to kill him off but not in Harry Potter.

Shortly after the 6th book was released, there were reports that he does die in #7. Someone from her publisher or close to her team, supposedly, let it slip to a reporter. I think it was a ploy to insure greater interest in the final book. I don't think people were lined up for #6 like they were for the earlier works. Order of the Phoenix wasn't that great. It may have caused some readers to loose interest. I just can't imagine killing off Harry. Of course, who would have thought she'd kill old Dumbledor?

Well, JK Rowling has announced that two characters are going to die, so its really anyone's guess....
I think its going to be Snape and either Ron or Harry, probably Harry though.

I have a really good feeling that he will and this is why i feel that way: she's not going to want someother author to come behind her and pick up where she left off with harry.

He might, but the only person that knows that for sure is J.K. Rowling. All she said is that someone is going to die.
