Its talking about a girl, hence miss murder
"Miss Murder"
Hey Miss Murder can I?
Hey Miss Murder can I?
Make beauty stay if I,
take my life?
whoa-oh-ohh
With just a look they shook
And heavens bowed before him.
Simply a look can break your heart.
The stars that pierce the sky;
He left them all behind.
We’re left to wonder why
He left us all behind.
Hey Miss Murder can I?
Hey Miss Murder can I?
Make beauty stay if I,
take my life?
whoa-oh-ohh
(ohh)
Dreams of his crash won’t pass
Or how they all adored him.
Beauty will last when spiraled down.
The stars that mystify
He left them all behind.
And how his children cry
He left us all behind.
Hey Miss Murder can I?
Hey Miss Murder can I?
Make beauty stay if I,
take my life?
whoa-oh-ohh
What's the hook, the twist
within this verbose mystery?
I would gladly bet my life upon it.
That the ghost you love, your ray of light
Will fizzle out without hope.
When the empty sand just flowing through our empty skin,
Ever searching for what we were promised.
Reaching for the golden ring we never let go,
Who would ever let us put our filthy hands upon it.
Hey Miss Murder can I?
Hey Miss Murder can I?
Make beauty stay if I,
take my life?
whoa-oh-ohh
Hey Miss Murder can I?
Hey Miss Murder can I?
Make beauty stay if I,
take my life?
whoa-oh-ohh

To me, the lyrics flirt with the question of suicide and image in a very Elvis-James Dean-Marilyn Monroe fashion. "Miss murder" could just be a feminine alias for death and her mysteries. She could also be a fictitious character, some cruel mistress perhaps (as she appears in the video). The speaker seems miserable over some loss and is asking if suicide is a viable option. "Make beauty stay if I take my life..." sounds like the internal question, "Will the world go on without me; will I stay young/innocent, etc." The male presence in the song could definitely be about a higher power, but it could also be about Elvis Presley, that's up for interpretation and debate. Those lyrics could apply to anyone with power, authority, and a following of devotees. It could be somebody's dad for all we know. It could also be a completely fictional presence.

"And how his children cried,He left us all behind!" I believe that is a refrence to all of the sinners who didn't repent. I totally see where you're coming from. I'm a Christian, however,I like that song.
