Don't give up on the Mariners yet, with the moves we just made (dumping Everett and bringing in Broussard to platoon with Perez at DH), and the hot young pitching coming up (Mark Lowe, anybody?), we're poised to make one solid pennant run.
As far as an NBA team, how about the (soon to be) Oklahoma City Supersonics? They collapsed with a lot of talent last year, which means they aren't good (IMHO any team that doesn't make the playoffs in a league where over half the teams do isn't good), but are still poised to kick some butt this year!

First of all, I love the Packers also. To answer your question... you should like the Cleveland Cavaliers. Not only because they have LeBron James, but because their team chemistry is awesome, the owners really know how to treat their fans, and they are only a couple of steps away from winning a Championship. So strike while the iron is hot, or, jump on the band wagon before they start winning championships.

If you want a team that's on the rise you could choose the Chicago Bulls. The San Antonio Spurs are always a safe choice. If you want a exciting team go for the Pheonix Suns. And if you want a team with the best player in the NBA, choose THE LOS ANGELES LAKERS AND KOBE BRYANT.

The Lakers are awful and have nothing but bandwagon fans. The Phoenix Suns are the most entertaining team. Orlando Magic and L. A. Clippers are two up and coming teams.

If you want a to find a team first you have to decide do I like a superstar player or an fundamental team. If you like a superstar player I recommend the Los Angeles Lakers or Cleveland cavalivers. Or if you like a soild team you should pic The Chicago Bulls or the Detroit Pistions.

If you want a team that used to be really good way back in the day and is just horrible now, cheer for Boston. Or if you don't want to go that deep into a historical team that is completely horrible today, cheer for the Lakers, also lots of history, but with Kobe

If you want to like any team in the whole league, you should try to love the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Cavaliers, since getting Lebron James, have been one of the most competitive and athletic teams in the league. They are very fun to watch, and make you sit on the edge of your seat because of their high - octane play.
When you have Lebron James on your team, there is going to be a lot of fireworks.
The Cavaliers are a team on the rise, so if you want to support a team, it should be Cleveland.
Go Cavaliers!!!

Go with the Sixers. I know that they will develop with Allen Iverson leading the team and young athletic players surrounding him they will surely rise to the top.
