I used to have a black woman as my boss's boss. One thing I discovered while talking to her was quite startling. In the black community, there is a certain disdain for blacks who are very black, like charcoal-colored. The blacks who are lighter are the "better" blacks, and the blacks who are darker are the "worse" blacks. Even a black person's features can play a part. If they have the narrower nose and smaller lips, they are seen as prettier than a black person with the great big nose and the huge lips. I don't know why it was that way, but it was.
I've seen documentaries on this phenomenon, and the experts all attributed this idea to the fact that black people were taught that they were indeed inferior human beings, that white was better. That's why the black culture valued the lighter-skinned blacks with smaller features more than the darker-skinned, coarse-featured blacks.

I think it has to do with the idea that you generally have 2 mindsets in the black population in america-
There blacks who want to succeed and excel as far as they possibly can so they get education and they wisely invest and manage their money. They develop very high standards for life and demand nothing less. Once a black man or woman becomes prosperous, other blacks who are not as diligent demand that the wealth be shared, thus, some hatred exists.
Likewise there are blacks who are happy and perfectly content with living right above the poverty line. When someone amongst them decides that they want a better life and they work towards something greater they are considered as someone who abandoned their community.

It's disgusting.
There are so many problems with in the African American culture. But it's just not here. Look at Darfur. Darker colored people dying because of their "caste-like" system in Darfur. All it does is lead to genocide. As an African American I hate it. As an educator I see it daily and try to take action. But look at our society. In America it is a privilege to be born wealthy and white- especially if you're male. Sometimes people of color want those privileges and when they go after them- becoming successful, some of their friends and family turn on them. This creates tension between the class system in African Americans. Why we cant be on one page is unknown too me.
Love the subject and the question...

Love and hate know no race. Just because they are black doesnt mean they are not supposed to hate black, would it be ok, if they hated white people? or if white people hated white people? How about if white people hated black people? Is that better?
I think NOT.
Your question implies racism. That it is ok to hate people of the opposite race. And I do not agree.

It's not something people want to talk about but black on black racism is much more common than other kinds of racism directed toward black people. Long before white enslaved blacks, they were enslaved by their own people and that hatred, anger, animosity and lack of respect is still going on today.

there are black people that try to succeed in life where they get an education, a good paying job, and speek properly. these are the type of black people that hate other black people, because those other black people don't try to succeed, they sit on their asses and get welfare, speak ghetto, cause crime, the list goes on. these type of black people cause all black people to have a bad reputation. now don't get me wrong white and hispanic people are the same way, but you asked specifically about black people.

I am Edna.
I will pray for you. I report people that are vulgar and inappropriate on Yahoo Answers. People that I have reported hate me and they took my picture and they make fun of me. Some are amusing and some are just plain mean.
I will not report you because you are curious.
I love black M+Ms

Its called black on black crime. Some don't really have anyone to care for them and that causes anger and pain. And they take it out on someone else of the same race. But there are some white people who don't get along with each other.I don't think you should stereotype on them and including just one race. But I hope I've answered your question!

Not sure what you're getting at. Can't a person be mad at someone else of their own race? I see white people getting angry at other white people, without a thought. Or are minorities just supposed to inherently love and accept each other, everywhere? Strange question....

Maybe the same reason I hate other white people?? A lot of people are irritating to me. Unless you're not talking about on a personal level, I can't help you.
