I am your next door neighbor. I have two cats and I am a bother to no one. I read the morning paper and do the crosswords and word jumbles, eat wheat flakes, drink coffee and pedal twenty-two miles on my twelve-speed. I laugh a lot and love movies. I listen to great music and I sunbathe thinking about how good life is to me. I feed the birds every day, and I just did the laundry earlier this morning. It is all folded and put away, ready for next time. I just went across the street at dusk and hopped into my neighbor's swimming pool for a quick 10-minute dip at the end of a very hot and sticky day here in South Portland, Maine, U.S.A. It was romantic by the pool, nobody around, with a couple of little lights glowing by the pool's edge, and the wind blowing high in the surrounding trees and the junipers were fragrant when I came out of the water and was drying off. I am seated right now typing this little note to you, and enjoying a radio station from nine miles North and East of here that is playing old tunes from the 1940s. I am looking forward to organizing my attic a bit better tomorrow so it will eventually become a 30X30-foot music room where I can go and really listen to my music on good speakers. I am think about who you might be and where you are and what you did today.
