Everyone is correct so far. This works for the inside and outside. Just boil some vinegar and baking soda. It have to be steaming hot. Take a toothbrush and clean the inside. After that repeat the step 2 more times until all the residue is gone. Some people will say that is too much time but if you want it nice and clean you will invest that time. Once you do that wash like you will normally wash dishes. I hope I was thorough. :)

NEVER use bleach! To remove tarnish, lemon and salt can be used. Add a little lemon juice to a small pile of salt, take a cloth and polish the surface. After removing the tarnish, rinse, and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.

If you put some Cascade (stuff you put in the dishwasher) in the pot with hot water, it will actually flake off the tarnish right before your eyes in a matter of seconds - no need to scrub. It really is amazing!!!!

Put some ice cubes into the coffee pot and pour salt and swirl the jar around. This will save you from going to buy items you may not use as frequently as you do salt.

Are you referring to this inside of the pot? I use a little bit of bleach and hot water and let it sit then wash it out. Make sure you wash it out good. There is also these packs of coffee pot cleaner that you run thru your coffee pot to clean it inside and out.
