Has anyone participated in a genealogy DNA test? Any problems because of it?

My daughter has real reservations about giving any organization her DNA. Should I worry about possible problems such as theft of the information, etc.?

What, on earth would anyone do with someone else's genetic information.

i've never done but the problem i have is that i'm still as crazy as the rest of my family. :-)
