This link will tell you everything about the effects. About how to slow it down, kinda hard to say how. Global warming is a step in Earth's life that we can't stop.
One thing for sure is to reduce the emissions of green house gases. These increase the heat of the atmosphere by capturing the heat created from the sun.
Also, the car we use are awefull polutors and seriously dont help to slow down global warming. Hybrid cars are a defenitive solution.

The effects: more heat energy in the atmosphere, thus greater energy fueling all sorts of atmospheric phenomena, like storms. Changes in existing weather patterns. A net increase in temperatures averaged out over the entire planet, yet locally, the possibility of colder temperatures - especially if the jet stream and gulf stream are altered.

As for what to do about it -- it is probable that greenhouse gasses are at least partly responsible, and if so, reducing the output of these may help. However, the probability of this happening is low. The developing nations of the world will very definitely greatly increase their greenhouse gas output for decades to come, and in the US industrial lobbies make mandatory emissions reductions politically almost impossible. These lobbies have invented a wholly mythical "scientific" controversy over the role of emissions in global warming, and this has worked effectively as a political lever to prevent costly emissions-reducing measures.

Oddly, almost unique to this issue, many people who have never read a science book in their lives feel qualified to comment upon the uncertainties in the scientific data for global warming and infer spurious uncertainties in the scientific community's conclusions. One wonders how these same people might go about curing their own cancers, or building their own aircraft.

rising temperature. if ice in north and south pole start to melts, there the sea will suffer a desalinisation, causing the sea currents to change. the effect for this are natural disasters (such as hurricane katrina). this also explains the el nino and la nina conditions in the pacific, and probably around the world.

the most effective way is to plant more trees, not stopping industries. we have relied too much on industry that it has become a part of our daily essentials.

so if someone says ban CFC, spray can, that's rubbish. planting more trees will cause more immediate result.

Provides a platform for parasites like al gore to talk about something he himself does not understand. Or he does understand that it is a farce created for media hype to curtail the forward momentum free enterprise has on the world economy and scientific progress and quality of individual empowerment.
When you wake up to the fact that he is a communist. And how they think and what they want then you will understand why the kyoto treaty and any other crap - that suppresses our ability to manufacture and compete when other countries wont be held to the same standard destroys our sovergn indendent nation. THIS ISSUE IS NOT AN ENVIROMENTAL ONE IT IS AN ECONOMIC
/ POLITICAL ONE. DONT NOT MANAGE THE EARTH IT DOESN'T NEED YOUR HELP

global warming can cause a lot af bad weather such as hurricanes, tornadoes ect. to slow it down people need to stop adding to air pollution. theese harmful gasses and chemicals that we are putting in the air are helping the sun make bigger holes in the ozone layer.

warming, melting the polar ice caps, flooding miles of shoreline, extending the deserts, making it too hot for many food stuffs to grow. stop using cars, burning fossil fuels, using spray cans, cutting down trees. actually human life is ruining the world and its us that need to leave this world before it dies too, or we will all die anyway.
