Any food with worms/shrimp/fish as it's main component. They love fried dried brine shrimp, and bloodworms. But be warned they can be picky eaters. One of my males wouldn't eat blood worms at 1st. (My solution was to push the bettas tanks together. Once he saw his rial eat them he was happy to eat them.) Other people have reported that their bettas doesn't like either pellets or flakes. Generally what ever the food it should float. (Bettas don't generally eat food that has fallen to the bottom of the tank/bowl. Which rots and fouls the water.)
PS- Note that many bettas will happily over eat so don't go feeding the little guy stuff than about the size of his eye ball. (This means 3-4 pellets, and a tiny pinch of flakes.) Also he only needs to eat once a day, and it doesn't hurt to skip a day or so a week. See link for example of healthy, and unhealthy betta bellies.

'momof3' should be reported for abuse... abuse of her fish. I bet if she locks her kids in the basement they'll find enough bugs on the walls to eat, too... won't have to feed them!
Now, for the usefull and intellegent portion of our show:
Betta bites are the perfect food for bettas, being formulated for their unique needs. Betta flakes are a close second, and and liek any fish, they DO enjoy a little variety. A small portion of a bloodworm cube is ok from time to time (every couple of days) as is a little sliver of cooked shrimp (NOT breaded, or fried, just boiled).
A betta's stomache is the size of it's EYE. Dry foods expand, so often two or three pellets or a VERY small smount of flake is all that is needed. If you overfeed, you need to overclean, and that's just a waste of your time, and more stress for the fish. Dropping an entire cube of frozen bloodworm into the tank creates a disasterous mess so feed an appropriate amount of MEAT and PROTIEN based foods to your fish. NOT ROOTS... or you can try it... go in the garden and eat potato roots for the next month, straight.
Nummy.

To be honest Betta food. TetraMin is one of the best brands of fish food. So, I would have to say TetraMin Betta food. Also, you can get freeze dried blood worms as a treat. Just ask for it at your local pet store. Also, worms stimulate mating, but thats a different story.

I actually got a plant and vase from Wal-mart especially for betta fish. You never have to feed them. They eat on the plant roots.

I recommend Omega One Beta food. They are small granules. One of the problems folks have with feeding betas is that they give them WAY too much! Resist the urge to give them more than 3 to 4 granules daily. This will prolong the life of your fish.
Have fun! Beta's are awesome!

I had Betas, and they did very well on regular old fish food from the pet shop. There were a male and a female and they even had eggs, but the other fish ate the eggs.
