Should I keep an expensive gift (worth over $200) if I am not interested in dating the person. It was a birthday gift. I feel kind of bad keeping it. But I would feel like a heel giving it back.

Not sure how to categorize this question.

I am worth having such a gift! How rude! I didn't ask for it. We never even talked about dating.

Be totally upfront. Truth may hurt but its the best way to go. Ask if he/she wants the gift returned and honor his/her decision. At least then you can say you handled it in an honest way and it will make you feel better about yourself.

I think that you should have a talk with your friend and make sure that it was given in the form of friendship. Explain to him that while you love the gift that you feel wierd about accepting such an expensive gift from someone who is a friend. It does not have to be a bad situation as long as you approach it like an adult. Who knows he might have gotten it on sale for like 75% off and it may have only cost him like 50 bucks. you will never know until you talk to him.

The best thing for you to do, is to give it back to him. I'm sure he made a big effort to get you such gift worth over $200, and did it out of his own heart. Not giving it back to him, when you're not even interested in him will make him think you only used him. Just take it back to him, tell him why you cannot accept it, and let him know that it is better for him to give it to someone who really is worth it of having such gift.

I feel it was a gift as a gift I would keep it. Did it mention dating you etc. in the card. If it did not he gave you a gift and accept it as a gift with no strings attached. He understands that. Good luck with your decision.

Only keep the gift if the person knows you are not interested in anything besides friendship.

i would say give it back. Tell the person that it is to much and you feel that you would owe him and have to pay it back some how. Also say all you have is your friendship to give and nothing more!!!!!!! He still might insist that you keep it but maybe getting it out in the open will help you to sleep better at night.

I think if you not interested in the dude you should give it back cause that's like leading him on making him think you want him and then one think will lead to another

Explain to the person how you feel and leave it up to them wether they want it back or not.
