$1000 for gambling, food etc should do you fine. I go there every other week for business and I usually spend around that when I'm there for pleasure. I suggest eating at some of the chain restaurants for breakfast and lunch (MGM Grand and Luxor have food courts inside their hotels with cheaper places like McDonalds, Subway and if you wander down the strip there is a Outback Steakhouse across the street from The Mirage hotel). A lot of the nightclubs in Vegas are expensive to get into. I suggest pick a place where you really want to go and stay there because it is near impossible to go club-hopping in Vegas due to lines.

Yes, but you need to make a room reservation and stay at a hotel that will not eat up all of your money. Rooms rates are $40 to $60 more for Friday and Sat nights. But try the second tier hotels, like the Rivera, Sahara, Tropicana, or even Excalibur for a slightlyy lower priced room.

The buffets are really expensive now so eat in the hotel food courts and/or food courts on the strip. We use Denny's for breakfast, there are 3 or 4 on the strip. McDonalds, Wendy, Burger King for lunch and then a lower cost buffet, like Excalibur, for dinner, or just go to a regular restaurant.

Play the Penny machines, you can win on them. Play 15 to 25 lines all the time, whatever is the max. I won hundreds on them last week. Your money will last longer that way. Its hard to find table games under $5. a play now.

Heck yeah, if you are not including air and hotel in that.

But if you are, you will be cutting it close with the gambling and food money. From Detroit, it costs about $300 per person for round trip air. Hotels can go from $70 to outrageous amounts on the weekend depending where you stay. So there goes at least HALF of the money.....

I am not a huge gambler, so I brought $700 for five days and did not spend it all....I bought food out of that too.

Sure! $1,000 is plenty enough for Vegas. The hotels are a bit more expensive on the weekends, but there is one for everyone's budget. Buffets are a cheap meal, and there's all kinds of entertainment (see listings in Vegas magazines in the rooms). Hope you go, and have fun!

Yes. The hotel rates are cheap right now due to no conventions being in town and the weather is hot. The only thing that might get you is the flight right now. Stay on the strip at the Flamingo, or Luxor. There are still cheap eats here. Check out www.vegas.com.

Major weekend. Big name entertainment and two major conventions.
The room rates will be higher and the lines longer. But still can have a lot of fun with $1K

That's pretty good if your ticket is already paid for. The rooms & meals are usually very fair in price, because they want you to spend your money at the casinos. If you're just there to gamble, it really depends on how much you want to spend on gambling & what kind of gambling you're doing. Overall, yes, it's enough.

Give me $500 and it will be more than enough and "we" will have a great time.

Seriously, the real question is "Can you afford to lose that $1,000?" If the answer is "yes, I can" then you have enough to have a great time.
