If it is a fraudulent transaction, you can contact the local police department where they live.

If it is simply money owed, you could file a civil claim.

You usually will not get it back. My mother was dumb enough to loan out money to a friend, & now her friend hides from her. This is AFTER she took them to court, she won the case, & found out where this person has worked at (the "friend" kept changing jobs, so it cost like $50 to re-file a new form to take money from thier paycheck for each job!). Now (it as been about 2 years & no money collected back yet), she is just waiting & watching his ouse like a stalker! She has left notes at his house (e lives with momma & won't pay her either!). I told my mom to just give it up, you lost that money!

File small claims in the state in which the transaction took place. If it's just a small amount like a friend loan and they refuse to pay it back. Get even!!!

if it is over a hundred dollars take a trip to their house with a bat, you'll get your money back. If it is any less yeah it sucks , but the money you make from working should recover you. Assuming you have a job.

There's not much you CAN do.

For future reference, don't loan money that you can't afford to not get back. Nine out of ten personal loans will not be paid. EVER.

It's not worth a friendship. If you're going to help a friend out, give it to them. Don't loan it.

You can try small claims court, but unless you have it in writing, you're probably out of luck.
