same reason we're not all midgets.

Actually, all the planets (except maybe pluto) were close to the same size when formed. Jupiter's coure is about the size of present-day Earth. The reason some of the rocky planets are different size is because when the solar system was forming, some pre-planets managed to accumulate more space junk (rock, ice, etc) than others- the space junk eventually compacted to form a pre-planet. Of course, this was while the sun was forming, so the space junk was super hot. It eventually cooled down to form a rocky planet.

The gas giants (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune) started just like the others, but since they were farther from the sun, the temperature was always extremely cold. Hence, they started collecting every little bit of ice and gas that entered their field of gravity. Due to the cold temperatures, the ice and gas cooled and eventually became a part of the planet.

That is the main reason why planets are different sizes- some collected huge quantities of gas, some didn't.

The planets aren't all the same size because they formed in different parts of the early Solar System out of different amounts of material.

The giant planets like Jupiter grew huge because they grew out of very large amounts of gas and ices, whereas the terrestrial planets became small and rocky because they grew from smaller amounts of rocks and metals close to the Sun.

And amongst those planets, some had more to grow from than others.

Personally, I would find it much more surprising if they were all the same size. After all, not all rocks or all trees or all people are the same size, why should planets be any different?

Well, remember that many of the Space entities are residuals of the big bang, so asking that is like asking "Why when I hit a stone with a hammer each piece is a different size"

Because if they were people who r colour blind wouldn't know which planet was which.
