Who have you been paying it too? I would think they would have a figure for you. If they won't tell you then get a lawyer to write a letter.

If you have been paying monies directly to the mother then in most states that is considered a "gift".
Monies must be paid to the attorney general child support agency in order for it to count.

On your order to support it should have an address and phone number that you can call to find out what your balance is. On that order of support it will have your case number that you will need.
And in most states they periodically mail you a statement that tells you how much you still owe and what your monthly payments are.

Also know that the mother keeping the child from you is in NO way a legal reason for not paying your support. You will have to file a motion against the mother for contempt of court if you have legal visitation that she is not allowing.

Call the child support unit in the area where they live. They can give you the answers or lead you to getting them. I know for one child in NY state a man pays 17% of his income per week. In New York if you are paying weekly, even with a balance, you are entitled to see your child. She cannot refuse if you go there with your support papers in your hands and a police officer at your side. good luck

local county clerks office or welfare dept. if they don't want to cooperate, tell'em your thinking about paying it off. that'll get'em rolling. still nothing? ask for a supervisor. also, if you DO pay it off, get an attorney and show him the divorce agreement and demand upgraded visitation rights or dual custody or sole custody for that matter but thats kinda hard to get unless you can convince the judge she's an unfit mother. and when you get your visitaion rights back and she refuses to let you see your child or is a no-show, she can be arrested. literally! even if she leaves the state. also, in most states, when a child reaches 13 years of age, the child can decide with whom he/she wants to live and no one can do anything about it. the court has to back up the child. and the child cannot be coerced into making a decision against her will.

Try the Child Support Enforcement office//Support Enforcement//Office of Child Support. If your employer is paying this from your paycheck, you can ask to see the paperwork to find the name of your case worker and customer acct number.
Most systems are now automated and you should be able to locate the number to Support Enforcement in the local govt pages of the phone book, and get right to the info you need. Usually your SSN is what dictates your acct.

Every county has a child support collection unit and they are not nice when collecting back support. They don't care if you have nothing, no food and live in the ditch or under a bridge. Just make sure you continue to earn so you can pay. I don't care if you - the man have always tried to pay and do your part, you will always be regarded as the rotten one and how can we stick it to you.

You need to contact Albany. Division of Child Support Enforcement1-800-846-0773 That is the info # and while it might still be phone tag, it should lead you someplace, eventually.
Good luck, New York CSEU is full of a$$holes who pass the buck at every chance.
