Acutally, Abercrombie and Fitch owns Hollister and abercrombie. The reason for the price difference is that each branch of the company appeals to a different customer. abercrombie is (obviously) aimed for children/jr. high therefore the prices are the lowest of the three. Hollister is aimed for high school aged kids (which if the girls notice, the sizes are JUNIORS sizes), which explains the 'middle' of the road prices. Abercrombie & Fitch targets to college students and those into their late 20s, which means high dollar and again, for the ladies it means that the sizes are now in WOMENS sizes. There is also another branch of the A&F label, but is high-end and I cannot remember the name right now, but they only have 5 or so of those stores only on the west coast.

Abercrombie costs more because they have brand recognition. They have been in the business longer and they have really marketed effectively to both affluent customers and those that can only afford to buy t-shirts. Although Abercrombie owns Hollister, the truth still remains that Hollister is a newer brand and many people (teens) do not know about it yet.

My friend actually told me hollister is a branch of abercrombie. Abercrombie cost more because apparently, the clothes are more durrable and better made. But often times both hollister and a&f have similiar, almost identical clothes because they use alot of the same base designs.

I don't know if thats true, its just what my friend said.

Because like everyone knew about AF, and knew what they cost, and all the sudden these nock off AF were showing up in malls around the country called hollister i guess charging a little less. But you go in it, it is the like same layout as AF. People who shop at AF and hollister are anerxixally skinny, or ska.nks, and man who.res!

they do look the same but it's different quality hands down, and af likely has a better fit. for example, the erins @ AF fit me waaaay better than lagunas @ hollister, even tho they're supposed to be the same thing. plus, alot of brand snobs think that hollister is "cheap and immature" so i bet A&f gets to overprice for that reason as well. i mean, look aroudn your hs, i bet everybody wears hollister but not as many people will dish out hte extra $$ for af. so it's a status symbol

Because Fitch is a huge fashion designer and the person who made hollister doesnt make the same taste & hasnt been in the fashion scene in a long time.

i don't know but i think they are both too expensive and the main reason people shop there is so other people will think they are cool. i hate when people pay tons of money for a name on a shirt!!!
