Sabres were developed long after sabre toothed tigers roamed the Earth. What were these tigers called before the sword appeared?

Sabre toothed tiger fossils were discovered by archaeologists AFTER the introduction of the sabre.

Because of the resemblance of the tiger's teeth to a sabre they were given that distinguishing name.

Similarly, the WOOLLY=HAIRED mammoth.

Such animals roamed the Earth BEFORE human language had developed.

There were no people on earth at the time Sabre-toothed tigers existed, so nobody called them anything. By the time their remains were found and identified, sabres were well-known. What did we call swordfish before there were swords? What did we call the bottle-brush plant before there were bottles? What about the Trigger Fish before there were guns? Better yet, what about the Picasso Trigger fish before anyone knew about Picasso?

I disagree that this is an important topic.

People didn't know about sabre-toothed tigers back then. They had been extinct. When we discovered their fossils they were given that name.

What language are you referring to? Proto Indo European perhaps.
Think about the fact that our modern languages didn't exist 100,000 years ago... They went extinct at the end of the last ice age.
"Both types of saber-toothed cats went extinct approximately 11,500 years ago."
