I know this is an old wive's tale but I have found it to be remarkably true. It has something to do with the flow of sperms to the eggs.

my nephew had two girls wearing briefs switched to boxers had a boy - my niece's boyfriend wears no underware and they had a boy - I told this to chef at restaurant and he laughed - he wore boxers - and his gf had a boy...hahahaha

Actually, I believe it has something to do with temperature of the testicles that are creating the sperm. Briefs hold the testicles closer to the body, thus increasing the temperature of the sperm. It still basically amounts to which one is the best swimmer and gets to the egg at the right time. Chances are still only 50% of having a boy, whether or not you prefer tidy whities or boxers. It's fun to think about though!

I can see the reasoning behind this, but I know of numerous instances to discount it. Female sperm are more resilient and can withstand more. It's recommended that for couples who want to conceive, the guy should switch to boxers if he's not already wearing them because it will help his sperm count. Anyway, since female sperm are more resilient, they can withstand the warmer temps that result from a guy wearing briefs. The male sperm die more quickly because they can't withstand the heat. Therefore, when it comes time to make a baby, the female sperm are the only ones left. As I said, I know of many examples to discount this, so I realize it's not necessarily true.
To further the "female sperm live longer" example I gave, it has been found that more girls are conceived from IVF because they can supposedly withstand all the stress from the lab. On the other hand, IUIs (artifical inseminations) result in more boys because the procedures are always done as close to ovulation as possible. Female sperm are heavier and therefore slower, so the lighter and faster male sperm are more likely to reach the egg first.

In my own experience what really matters is when yo make the baby! It seems like the closer to the ovulation period, the more possibilities there are of having a boy. Try the Chinese cakendar too! It worked for me the two times (according to the age you are and the month you got pregnant you can see whether to expect boy or girl)

It is a myth. It is true that sperm are sensitive to changes in temperature. Hence the reason why your balls hang when you get hot, or shrink when you get cold. Because X chromosomes are more resilient that Ys, this is where the wives tale came from. The difference in underwear can affect your sperm count. So hang tough if you want more soldiers.

Nope, I have two boys, hubbie is a briefs man. My dad was a boxers man and had 7 girls and 4 boys!

My husband has worn briefs, boxer briefs, and boxers. We have four boys and one girl. I don't think the underwear matter. (My husband was wearing boxer briefs when we conceived our daughter). If your undies would help the sex of a child my husband would have been in briefs for most of his life.
