I'm not exactly 100% sure if they'll win, but as a fan, I have to say YES !
I have faith that my Yankees will go to the WS but they'll have some stiff competition.
Detroit's on fire and I don't see them slowing down anytime soon.

The Yanks have a shot mostly because nobody else has up and said they really want it this year. The Sox have been consistantly winning but alot of that has been playing over thier heads which means an August or Sept Swoon. The White sox have been playing way below thier abilities this year. The Tigers are way too young and lack the pitching depth. I'll be surprised if the Tigers hang on and make the playoffs. Whoever wins the AL west will be easy meat for the other divisions so predicting who wins is academic.
In the NL if the Cardinals put it together they'll be dangerous. The Mets are overdue for a collapse. The Astros collapsed already and will be hard pressed to even make the playoffs this year. Again whoever wins the West will be wiped out quick in the playoffs. I wouldn't count the Braves out of this years postseason but they lack the pitching to make the series. So I think it'll be the Cardinals reprsenting the NL.
The AL, depends on who can pull a magic pitcher out of thier hat. None of the front runners have the kind of staff that can touch the Cards if the Cards get Mulder back and Marquis back on track.
The Yanks need pitching. I'd love to see the Yanks trade Sheffield AND Giambi to the Giants for Schmidt. In fact offer to pay both of thier salaries just to be rid of them. They can have steroid parties with Bonds over there. For the Yankees to get to the series they NEED Randy Johnson to remember how to pitch and they need Mussina to stay strong into the post season. The Yanks are really missing Pettite right now. This was the kind of time when Pettite always put together a winning streak and really picked the team up. David Cone used to do much the same thing.
The Redsox with Wells and Clement out are very vulnerable. Beckett is having an off year but Schilling is having a great one. The key thing in a short series is coming up with 3 really good starting pitchers who are not exhausted from the reguler season. The Yanks have often done this with late season call ups combined with ace and #2 starter. Pettite in his rookie year was this miracle pitcher. El Duke one year was the guy. Cone came over one season and did it. This year will there be a pitcher to come up and take over the #3 spot and will Randy Johnson get back to destroying AL offenses/? If not the Yanks will get zapped by the Red or White sox.
In my opinon if the Sox decide they want this series it's thier ball. The Yanks have too many SP holes if the Sox can put thier own staff in order. The Redsox have played strong all year but injuries and normal Redsox curses will prob take them out late in the year. Though I doubt the Sox won't at least make the wildcard. Though I suspect they'll breakdown big time in the playoffs. Not so badly as to lose to the Rangers or Angels. But the WhiteSox or Yanks can take them if they get any kind of good pitching.
My prediction is still the WhiteSox against the Cardinals with the Cardinals winning.

The Yankees suck! We (Toronto) kicked their a$$es on Sunday, and we beat them Thursday and Friday. We lost by 1 run on Saturday. It was great to see all the Yankees fans at the game Sunday who wasted money to be there to see their team get KILLED! GO JAYS!
lol...we'll see about that. And even id they do beat us...you still lost 3 out of 4 games for what you call "such a great team" even Tampa Bay beat you guys and they suck! Good luck Yank!
I also love how you say that "but Texas lost 3 games against the Yankees." Well, the Yankees lost 3 games against the Blue Jays. You just made yourself look dumb...lol.

i'm a born and raised yankee fan from the superb city in international, or maybe asserting that i've got faith their possibilities to be narrow. Their isn't any heart or chemistry on that team anymore. 26 international championships is surprising yet while exchange into the final one... 2000. From 1901-2000 while they gained those 26 international sequence they have been Yankees who have been All-Stars, no longer All-Stars who're Yankees. What I mean is they obtained their repute via appearing in the type of extreme point, on between the main respected professional activities communities. additionally they had team chemistry and worked jointly to win video games, it wasn't who has the optimal batting conventional or maximum homestead runs. Now the yank roster contains some "authentic" yankees, merely maximum gamers who prefer to get as referred to as they could, and obtain the main volume of money. For the 1st time i'm embarrassed to be a Yankee by using how they spent their funds this off season. that's merely a shame what expert activities in usa are becomind.

I think the Yanks can win the WS if they get in, and provided that the Minnesota Twins don't get in. I think this is the best season baseball has provided (at least the AL) in a long time. The NYY and Bosox are tough, as well as Detroit. But all bets are off if the Twins get in. Too much pitching. Pitching and Defense win championships when it gets down to it.

No!! The fact is, they will not even make the playoffs as a division winner OR wild card. The Red Sox will win the division, and the White Sox will be the wild card.
Go Red Sox!!
