I'm a new college freshman. Is it a good idea for me to seek out professors in that week before classes start just to introduce myself, or maybe to ask some questions about the course? Or is it better to wait until classes officially start?

EIther e-mail them and make an appointment, or if you happen to be nearby, you might take a chance and stop by the office and say hello - especially if summer school is still going on. The worst thing you can do is to drop by unannounced during the first week of classes - that week is the one where we try to get everything squared away and the last thing we want to do is be bothered!!

My freshman classes the first day of school all of my classes had a little intro time so you can wait and meet the professor there.

As someone else said you want the professor to remember you, so sit in the front (or near it), pay attention, answer questions, participate in discussions, even if you are the only one - I had classes where the professor and I did all the talking some days. And ask questions if and when you run into any, it shows the professor that you are interested.

Stop by during office hours about two weeks after the semester starts. I'm a grad student and I think students who the professor remembers tend to get better grades.

Wait and see if the first session answers your questions and if not then arrange a meeting.

Well, I've waited until I've gotten the syllabus and meet up during their office hours.
