i have no idea what the people above me are talking about but theiris a difference. you don't really know the difference until you've done both. when making love it feels like your connected like one, i promise you. when it's sex it's like your just having a quickie. making love is ten times better!

Well, I'm not a good source for personal experience, but based on what I think the respective definitions of them are, I think making love is having sex, but with emotions. So, making love is passionate and sincere, while sex is more primal and is purely physical. Making love expresses affection, and this therefore brings people closer together. Thus, making love is more satisfying but is much more significant. It can develop a relationship but can set one up for a major falling out and also destroy other ones in the wrong situation (e.g., adultery).
I would think that having sex often slips into making love, because it is such an emotional act.

Apparently some of you have yet to make love. Once you have experienced the emotions and feelings that is involved when two connect as one you will then know that just having sex can never equal to love-making...What good is just having sex when you can wait and experience so much more with someone you love?

I think it depends on who your are doing it with, and the mindset with which you set out to do the deed in.
lets say you are married, on your wedding night you make love, because you're feeling all gooshy and chances are majority of the time you will *Make love* for the first few years...then you start to experiment and get kinky, you're still doing it with your spouse, only now its gotten hardcore and there's toys and swings and lube involved...you are now having sex or better yet, f***ing...yet you still love them, but you're not building on that love with the act anymore as you were in the beginning.
So in my opinion, the difference is...you are making love when you are building upon, or strengthening your love bond with the sex act.
You are having sex....all the rest of the time! LOL

The difference is love making is about two people being intimate and expressing feelings of love and tenderness. Having sex merely refers to the physical act of sex. It has nothing to do with feelings.

When you are in love and you engage in the sexual act you the satisfaction is not just physical but also emotional. If you have sex with a person you just started going out with you will will not have the feeling of closeness and intimacy. Its just a physical gratification.

sex is sex. it's to get you off and feel good. making love is something on a totally different level that cannot be described, just like being in love is hard to describe. but sex is better when you're in love

Having sex is better by yourself...making love is something bigger than sex. Sometimes when you are making love the "outcome" doesn't matter because it is all about you and the other person being together.
