Do you think army men have attitudes and are short tempered? Why do you think they are this way?

Just wondering, because my hubby is in afghanistan, and he has been really short with me lately!

My b/f was in Iraq for a year as a combat medic, and he's NOT a short-tempered guy usually... well, after his best buddy (also a medic) got killed by an IED, even the cooks knew better than to approach him for a while...

One thing people don't realize is that the soldiers out there have NO idea who's just a civilian and who is trying to kill them... my b/f talked about receiving "death looks" all the time... not just a glare, but a REAL "I'm-going-to-effin-kill-you" looks. If they show too much compassion or leniency for the Iraqi people, it counts as weakness, and could get them killed.

Don't take his "shortness" personally, and be there for him when he needs you... I still have to hold my b/f's hand in ultra-crowded places, he reacts to loud noises, and it took a while for him to not be skeptical of old tires or boxes in the road (common places for IEDs). It's a healing process, and I'm glad to help him with it.

No I dont think army men or any military men have attitudes, at least not the men in my family. I live in a military family atmosphere. My husband was 82nd AirBourne and my son is Staff Sgt. in AirForce. They treat everyone with the utt most respect. If that is an attitude then I wish we all had to become military instead of civilians. You see if they are becoming horrible people now then I blame it on the laws. Meaning: When you went to basic they would literally tear you down and build you up to be true soldiers. Now if you get too hot, or want to call home OMG dont get me started lol. Sorry They do baby them now, which is a big mistake. I am just lucky my men were old military basic.

maybe its because some army men dont even want to be there. maybe they want to be home insted of fighting a useless war..ok they go in the army for this reason to fight..but if they stay away from home longer than planned. and missing loved ones birthdays.etc,,it will give them the hump..and i think we all know that we take it out on the person we love most..but some times never mean what we say in temper..so just be patient and show him the love he deserves. and hell appriciate it more when he comes home..you have to be strong for him..and with him.

Well, they live in very stressful environments. There is alot of pressure put on them because alot is relying on them and people expect so much from them. This is how anybody would react if they are constantly put under the pressures and danger of a milatary life. It is very diffucult for us to all understand that see people get hurt, and learning to hurt can be extremely traumatic and effect every aspect the soilder's life. this is even after he leaves the battleground and military.

That's like asking if Firemen or Policemen have short tempers... I think it's probably the situation (whatever it is) that makes them that way. If they're relaxed and you have their attention, they are polite and kind if they care about you. If you're pestering them and they're busy, they're probably short-tempered. Wouldn't you be?
